"Tide Pool Jewel"Original etching, printed by hand in color. Currently available archivally matted and framed, 26"x 20" for $400. By: Denise Morse I have using the simplistic yet powerful egg shape as the basis of my most recent compositions. The shape helps to create a view within a view. It represents the origins of an idea, a memory, or as in "Tide Pool Jewel," life itself. There is a second illusion which developed as the piece took shape, that of a single droplet of water sliding down the surface of the picture plane. Knowing that a bead of water acts as a magnifying lens helped me decide to fill the background around the egg with microscopic diatoms. The inside is rich with color and life can be found teeming throughout it. I connect mankind to the marvels of it all with two figures in the contemplative act of inspecting a tide pool. The central color comes forward like a moonstone or opal and helped me title it "Tide Pool Jewel." It is an etching and aquatint printed a la poupee on a single plate. It is printed on a Rives BFK, which is an archival 100% cotton paper, matted in an archival museum rag mat, backed with acid free foam board and hinged with a filmoplast conservation tape. Provenance
